Birthday Pillows & Spa Treatments!
Last Saturday was oldest’s 14th birthday. Besides the traditional birthday fun, I decided to add some more *young-man* sorts of furnishings to his room. This boy of mine has his room set up and organized just the way he likes, so I had to make sure the changes were not big ones. I added deep red black-out curtains that not only made his room look like a dungeon, they have been keeping drafts out too. Bonus! I also found a wonderful bedside table with a drawer and shelf perfect for his books and other private items. The final changes were a new bedspread, sheets and handmade pillows.
The first pillow top I made a few months back from a pattern I created in EQ7. The fabric is PB&J by Basic Grey for Moda. I always have a stash of this line in my studio, so I grabbed a bit more and made another pillow. This one just simple 3″ squares sewn in random order and is 26″x 26″ finished.
The pillows were a very quick sew and the simple addition to my son’s room was a hit. They are firm, but comfy to prop against his headboard when he wants to read. Go me!
Besides the Saturday birthday boy, I also celebrated my birthday on Wednesday. It was a big one.

Anyhoo- The husband surprised me with an hour long massage, cut and color at a local day-spa. It was heavenly and soooo needed. So after a few hours of pampering, I headed home for a relaxing evening. I may be that age now, but I feel much younger in spirit!
The rest of the week was full of snow, -30 temps, stomach viruses and deadlines. Thankfully all is getting slowly better and we are getting back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Make sure you check out the blog tomorrow. I have an awesome new project to share with you all!
