Blue Squares, Sugar Blocks & A Happy Dude
At the beginning of each month, a wonderful e-mail arrives in my inbox from Stichery Dickory Dock. In it, Amy shows us our challenge for the month along with a yummy recipe and a story reflecting that month’s topic. This month’s theme was teach and her message was written by her husband. Here is my finished June block.
We have been using Kona Snow and Essex Linen each month with our blocks, then pick our patterns of choice. The two fabrics I used this month were actually purchased from JoAnn Fabrics. Our local store has been stocking some really pretty fabrics lately !
Here are blocks 1-6. I’m starting to think ahead about sashing and borders now that we’re half way done. My blocks are so funky I’m not sure what I want to do. Any ideas?
If you follow Ellison Lane, you know Jennifer has a great Patchwork Summer Series going on and part of it is a Summer Quilt-Along. Quilters can do 5″ squares or 4 1/2″ triangles. I have been wanting to use up some of my stash, so doing a quilt like this is a super-easy way to do that! Plus when I’m done, this quilt is going to be a winter snuggler for the basement. So far, I have picked out my fabrics and have cut them up. Next up, arranging them!
This past weekend while my 4 Cub & Boy Scouts were camping, I pulled out my Scrumptious quilt and fabric and decided to make a few more blocks. I have everything cut and ready to stitch up, but with a week full of band concerts, parent nights and Scout meetings I am pooped and these little squares (and myself) are going to rest a bit.
I am linking up my to-do list today with WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced. Thanks for reading and enjoy your evening 🙂
