Introducing The Camp Stitchalot Bag!

| |

Good morning everyone!  Saturday at our house usually means early risers, hockey, Tae-Kwon-Do and usually a McD’s smoothie on the way home. Today I add to that a thunderstorm and a mountain of laundry and *maybe* a little sewing time later.  Not the most glamorous Saturday, but it needs to be done!  Do you have any great weekend plans?

Before I’m off again,  I want to introduce you to a wonderful new bag I recently tested for Sara from Sew Sweetness.  She is bag designer extraordinaire and her newest release is a really unique and fun pattern.  Introducing the Camp Stitchalot Bag!

DSC_0077This is not your regular everyday bag. It’s basic function is to store sewing and quilting materials securely for those crafters who may be going to a retreat, or want to bring some of their crafting projects on vacation.  This is a larger bag with finished measurements of 20” long x 14” tall.

What makes this bag unique is that the bag can be opened totally flat and can fold up again and secured by a simple snap.  The interior has 2 long pockets and several clear vinyl zippered bags stitched with bias tape on the sides.  I am loving the see-through bags and their size! You can easily fit several projects in them.

DSC_0080Here’s another shot of the interior.  I took both my interior main pockets and stitched them in half to create two smaller pockets for a couple of magazines. Still plenty of room to add more!!  The interior and exterior are kept together by a basic stitch/turn/topstitch on top and bias tape on the sides. I also used a mid- weight home decor for the exterior fabric and a mid-weight for the interior which I felt was a perfect combo.

DSC_0085The exterior of the bag has a simple snap closure, but Sara added a few more snaps for those of us who pack it a bit more and need to adjust.  There are also 3 exterior pockets (I only did two – my choice) that are perfect for those traveling cutting mats and rulers. The other exterior side has a smaller flap pocket for  smaller items. I could easily fit my 18″ cutting mat into the outer pocket.

DSC_0076If you would like to purchase The Camp Stitchalot Bag head over to Sara’s shop HERE.  I would rate this bag as an intermediate.  It is a longer project that with more fabric and directions involved, but it is SO worth it.  You will need a walking foot and a needle that can sew through vinyl and a combo of fabrics. I used a denim needle and had no problems at all.

My tester bag is going to head on vacation with me, but my 9yo wants me to make him one using some Captain America fabric and leather. A few pattern tweaks will be no sweat, but  we’ll see if I can get it done before we leave for vacation!!

Have a great weekend everyone! ~Cindy
