I am so excited to be sharing the release of The Smile and Wave Tote Bag, an original PDF pattern by Betz White!  I have been testing with Betz for awhile now and LOVE her patterns. Here is my SAWTB tester tote!

The Smile and Wave Tote is tote designed to spend the day at the beach or pool . With strong straps and a wide opening, there is plenty of room for large beach towels, toys, lotion, you name it!   I tested the large tote, it measures 21” at the top, 8” x 13” at the base, and 25” high including handles.

DSC_0126Inside the tote you will find one side has a zippered pocket and the other side a huge divided pocket.  I am working on another one of these totes right now and have taken the zippered pouch out and added another divided pocket instead. This pattern is very easy to customize! The outside of the tote also has large pockets with magnetic closure for those extra last minute goodies.

If you head over to Betz’s blog today she has links to purchase the pattern and also shares the bags that her other testers made. The various fabrics the testers used will show you just how versatile this bag is.  Also included in this pattern are directions for making a smaller version. It measures 16 1/2” at the top, 6” x 10 1/2” at the base, 19” high including handles. Cute for everyday use.

The fabrics I used to make this tote are a heavier-weight Linen/Duck and KAS(Richloom) Hazel Garden for the interior. I used a few different types of quilting cotton for the interior and my go-to SF101 and fleece for the interlining.  You could make this tote with a lighter weight cotton easily, but be aware you won’t have the stiffness and structure you see above. Either way, it will look great!

Thanks for letting me share my tester bag with you today! It’s been hard not to share, but now that I can I’m going to take out my remnants of the KAS fabric and make the smaller version!! Have a great weekend everyone.  Cindy
