Menu Monday’s ~Vacation Edition!!~

|

Leaving….on a jet plane….Saturday!!! So excited to head to our annual family vacation next week in Virginia.  The boys are a bit nervous about flying, but it’s only a 2.5 hr plane ride tops so it won’t be too bad, right?!  This week my menu is basically preparing the house and kids for vacation.  Packing carry-on’s, check-in luggage, cleaning the house and taking the bunnies/cats to be boarded.  Nothing major, but if I don’t do a little each day it will be bad news by Friday!

This morning I took a small detour on our errand runs and went into the local quilt shop.  They had tons of fat-quarters and fat-eighths, so I found a few that made their way  home.

Quilt visit :-)

I managed to find a few Tula Pink Saltwater quarters to add to my stash.  My BOM quilt is all Saltwater, so it is nice to have some extra. I found 3 FQ’s of a pretty yellow/grey/white print from Camelot Fabrics/Jackie Studios LLC.  I also found a few Moda, Basic Grey, Kate Spain, Michael Miller, and some that I have no idea who the designers are, but they came home with me anyway.

UntitledI am also working on my vacation tote this week.  It is from a Japanese Sewing Book I love and I think resembles Ayumi’s drawstring Bento Bag.  I am altering it a bit to suit my needs, so when I finish it up this week I’ll share some finished pictures.  The fabric I’m using is a mid-weight indoor/outdoor fabric I picked up at  Hancock Fabrics, a Michael Miller print for the drawstring top and a bright orange/white funky print that contrasts nicely.  I haven’t decided the thickness of the interfacing, but SF101 will go on first.  Should I use a FF, Thermolam Plus or a foam/headliner to bulk it up a bit?

UntitledThe last thing I purchased at the quilt shop was a pack of 3/4″ hexie paper piecing cut-outs and a larger 1 1/4″ hexie template.  I plan on bringing a hex kit with me to Virginia, so these will definitely get added into the kit.  What are you all up to this week?  ~Cindy~
