This is the beginning of a crazy week around here. Not only is it Halloween week, but it’s a week with teacher conferences, activities to chauffeur and home repairs galore. The big event *besides making a Minecraft Steve head* is a young man in this house will turn the big 1-0 tomorrow. The double digit birthday is a big deal around here so I am taking the Minecraft theme and running with it. I’m making a creeper cookie cake for the family celebration and brownie “grass” blocks for his class tomorrow. I just love when my house smells of brownies!
With the busy week coming up, I am going to be quietly working on a few projects in the studio. Here is what I did today:
I adore anything by Bonnie & Camille so I picked up a charm pack and jelly roll of their latest Scrumptious line and have been cutting 2 1/2″ squares. Lots of them! I also worked on drafting a quilt pattern inspired by a great scrappy Japanese quilt I saw online. I only have an image to go by but I’m really going to give it a go. So I had out some graph paper and pencil out for a bit today trying to do some measurements.
I don’t really want to share this last picture, but I promised I’d share a shot of my “knitting” project when I was near completion. This is all I’m sharing though!! This is the cowl for youngest. It’s Thick-n-Chunky with a size US35 needle. I made it using a seed stitch…..but from what I’ve seen online, I think I’m a bit off. But the boy-child loves it and it fits perfectly so after I bribe him with candy, I may share a better shot with you.
Even this cowl wasn’t near perfect, I did learn how to cast on, knit and purl. And now I can knit and purl without having a picture next to me to refresh my memory! So that is a major success in my book.
What are you all up to this week?
