My First Quilt Blocks…So Far
Happy hump day! I have been busy in my studio cleaning, organizing and finishing many projects so I could put them up or away while we’re gone on vacation. The first project on my to-do list was to finish my next set of BOM 2012 blocks. What do you think?!?! The only fabric I am using on this quilt is Tula Pink’s Saltwater line, RK’s Essex Linen, and a few shades of KONA cotton that complements the Tula Pink.
I think there may be a few more blocks, then we’ll learn how to do the backing, binding and other details that just plain frighten me. But I’ll get through it and hopefully learn quite a bit on the way. This week I worked on the Stars blocks (These last two were the stars on the bottom left of the picture). I wouldn’t say they were hard, but they were very time consuming. So many little pieces to sew together and if one set is off it looks funky. I managed to finish them, but I can’t say I’ll be rushing to make more any time soon!! The last four blocks look to teach curved piecing so I’m excited to start that.
I also finished up my July Mystery BOM with Riley Blake. This month’s theme is, “There is no place like home”. Here is my homeIt was very easy to put this block together yesterday. I think it’s because of all the work I’ve been doing in my Craftsy class. There are only two months left in this sew-along so I’ll be sad to see it end. I don’t think I’m going to make a quilt out of these blocks, so I need ideas on what else I could do with them. Any tips?
