My Polaris Bag – March’s Bag-of-the-Month

| |

I took the month of February off from the BOM club but I’m back to share this month’s bag, The Polaris Bag by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness.

The Polaris bag comes with two shape options.  There is a rectangle version and the oval one which I chose.  The finished size is approx.  9” long x 6-1/2” tall x 2-1/2” deep.  Most fabric types can be used for this pattern, but I got out some upholstery leather and used that for a change. My interior is a Dear Stella print I found at JoAnn’s awhile back.

The original pattern has an adjustable strap and strap tabs on either side of the zipper to wear over your shoulder.  If you know me, you know how I like to tweak patterns sometimes so I left off the long strap and tabs and added a leather belt remnant and riveted the ends together to use as a wristlet.

What is great about The Polaris is that they require very few pattern pieces and can be sewn up rather quickly.  Adding the piping took the longest, but it was in no way difficult.  Such a fun sew!

Only a few more weeks until April’s bag! I wonder what it will be?
