Remember those small Halloween quilt blocks I shared with you last week?  I wasn’t sure what to make with the 6 small blocks I made, but over the weekend I decided to make them into a quilted pillow. The pillow itself came together easily and I even free motion quilted around the two borders! I’ve never done that before, so I figured I couldn’t mess up some wavy lines around the borders, right?

2013-10-09 13.12.13In addition to the free motion quilting around the borders, I stitched around the purple web fabric in matching thread to make the pattern stick out a bit. The rest I left as-is. The finished pillow is 24″ x 17″. The fabrics I used were from my Fat Quarter Shop 12lb scrap box. So while I didn’t have yardage for something bigger, these scraps were the perfect size for my first quilted pillow!

Fabrics used:

The Boo-Crew by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics – “The Monsters Orange”

Spooky Spectacular by Wilmington Prints – “Spider Webs Purple”

Geometric Abstract Coordinates by Timeless Treasures – “Grass Hoodie”

Fright Night by Whisters Studio for Windham Fabrics – “Ghosts”
