Our Long Weekend Getaway!
Happy Tuesday! I’m back from our long farewell summer getaway to Orlando. We had such a wonderful weekend with friends and family. It was the perfect ending to a busy summer.
Friday morning, we headed to Orlando to spend the first few nights with my dad. We spent a lot of time in his pool, at the zoo and catching up. During our time there, I attended my 20th high school reunion. On Friday, we took a tour of my old school (which has since been renovated!) then headed to a local bar and grille to eat and socialize. Let me tell you how odd it was to see all these people I had not seen in 20 years!! So many looked the same, but so many I could not recognize. Thank goodness for name tags!!!
On Saturday, we spent the morning at the zoo and in the pool. By late afternoon the boys were done, so we headed off to the hotel for the reunion dinner and the boys spent the night with my dad. Hotel for two instead of five! Woo-Hoo!! I loved getting all gussied up with a nice cocktail dress and strappy sandals. I honestly don’t remember the last time I got dressed up, but these shoes made the outfit for me. What do you think?
After the reunion activities were over, we headed down to Universal Studios to spent the next two days. We stayed at Universal’s Royal Pacific hotel Sunday night. It has a Polynesian feel to it so the landscaping an interiors were beautifully done. The boys kept oohing and ahhing over how fancy it was and really got excited when we told them they’d have their own room. Connecting rooms are a good thing!
The rest of the day was spent at Universal Studios. My dad was able to come with us and after lunch my brother Jason joined us (he works part time at Universal – that day he dressed up as Gru from Despicable Me!). It was so nice to have them with us. There were a few rides I didn’t want to ride so grand-dad and uncle saved the day and took the boys.
If you ask the younger boys what their favorite ride was, they’d say this. Really cute ride, but be warned….you really have to like 3-D glasses and a bumpy ride! Ugh!!
So after many days of driving around to various adventures we were ready to head home. Thankfully it’s only a 2 hour drive. I still somehow manage to end up with a TON of dirty laundry and a giant grocery list!. But for these happy campers, it’s definitely worth it!!
