See Kate Sew: Envelope Clutch Sew-Along
I often see the most adorable sew-alongs on the blogs I read. Many times I pass them by. Sometimes they may not be my cuppa, or may times they involve the most adorable girl clothing. For the most part though I have to see if it fits into my schedule. When I read See Kate Sew ‘s current sew-along information, I signed right up. Quick easy and a great potential gift project. What’s not to love?
Her sew-along right uses a pattern for an Envelope Clutch. The tutorial is on her site, as are easy to follow directions and a link to download the FREE pattern. I would say this was a beginner type project that is quick to sew up. My only issue was the button. Now that it’s done and the buttonhole and button are assembled I can honestly say buttons are the devil. Well, buttonholes to be exact. I used my Janome buttonhold foot because I thought it might be easy. But darned if I don’t like it any more now than I did ten years ago!!
I used a mid-weight home decor fabric which washes and irons great. Too bad the roll had not production information, so I have no clue who makes it. Does this pattern look familiar to you? I also used a VERY soft vinyl which I have learned will suit better to very small projects. I like how it turned out here, but it was just a tad too soft for me. I think I will adjust the printing a few times to see how they turn out in various sizes. I have no doubt I’ll be using this pattern again. A lot of potential for altering and so easy to make. Thanks to See Kate Sew for sharing the Sew-Along with us!
hahah, i’m so sorry that you had trouble with the buttonhole! It looks great! I love your line “buttonholes are the devil” hah! thanks for sewing along!
🙂 My pleasure! It was fun. That was the first buttonhole I made in a good 10 years LOL so I expected a bit of trauma. Luckily, my new Janome has
3 types of buttonhole options and a fairly easy to use attachment so it wasn’t too traumatizing LOL!
