The Aragon Bag!

| |

Good morning everyone!  I am so excited to finally share a bag I’ve been working on recently. Introducing, The Aragon Bag!! This is a new release from Sew Sweetness and I was one of her pattern testers for this super awesome pattern!2013-09-19 08.23.46

This is an intermediate-level sewing pattern that Sara designed for use as a possible diaper bag, carry-on or day-tripper.  I plan on using it for overnight or weekend outings seeing as my baby days are over. But wouldn’t make the cutest baby shower gift?!?!

The bag front has a magnetic snap closure while the back has a zippered pocket added into the pattern. I chose to leave it off, mostly because I didn’t want to cut into my patchwork.  If you head over to Sew Sweetness today, Sara has included pictures from all her testers so you can see many more Aragon bags in various fabrics. She also has included information on purchasing and actual supplies needed.

POCKET

The Aragon’s finished size is 16” long x 12” tall x 5-1/2” deep.  There are 2 elastic pockets on each side/gusset and the interior also has larger elastic pockets and a zipper to store all your goodies.  The bag is closed with a sturdy 22″ zipper.  As a long time tester of Sara’s, I can honestly tell you that her pattern instructions are very thorough and have great visual support as well.

I will say one thing about my personal Aragon Bag.  If you chose to do the patchwork like I did, be careful with what you use to back the patchwork.  This is a bag with many layers, so canvas or stiffer backing will not work (unless you have an industrial machine like me). Use fleece or batting as your backing only. Please feel to e-mail me if you need some tips, but I so love how it turned out!!

SIDE2CLOSEUP

I purchased my fabric at JoAnn’s in their quilting cotton department. I don’t recall the brands, but I picked 5 out and ran with it. Here is a closer shot of the pack (minus the pocket) so you can see how I stitched it.

If you are interested in purchasing Sara’s new pattern, you can get it HERE.  You can also see all her patterns available for sale at this link as well! Congrats to Sara and the Aragon Bag release!  Have a great Thursday everyone and thanks for reading!
