The Teardrop Bag
I have finally finished The Teardrop Bag by Emmaline Bags. It turned out wonderful and I’m so pleased with it! I made the XL version so I could use it for day trips and pool visits this summer. For the exterior, I used my favorite linen-duck cloth by Robert Allen. The interior and handles were a quilted cotton from our local quilt shop.
I only added a few interior pockets, leaving out the zipper or magnetic closure. Those are extras for my day bags, so a nice large open bag like this will be perfect to cram full with goodies. Click on the Emmaline Bags link to take you directly to the ordering site. Her PDF file is thorough and easy to follow. I would say it’s perfect for beginner-intermediate sewists and can easily be completed in a few hours.
I also made a little make-up bag to match the Teardrop. It’s a larger variety of the pouch I posted about earlier in the week. I’ll put my cell phone and ID, etc. in it when we head to the pool. Coming up in my little crafty world……working with scraps. What do you do with your leftover fabrics (besides quilting!). With our move in two weeks, I’m cleaning out and organizing. I have 3 huge bins of scrap pieces, so this week between sewing a bag or two I have been going through my bins and getting ideas. What do you like to do with your leftover fabric pieces? Cindy
Hi Cindy, the bag looks fab! I’m loving the linen and pink together. The make-up bag is just devine! And they go so wonderful together. I really need to get me some linen-duck, it’s wonderful. Thank you very much for the pattern review, it’s great to have some feedback. Keep on sewing, may all your bobbins be full 😉 Janelle
Oh and about the scraps, I’m saving all of mine too. Years ago I had cut all of my scraps into small squares to be ready for an Irish Chain quilt. All I needed to do was add the white and it would have been beautiful, eventually. Unfortunately, I had a purging urge when we were moving to Australia and I pitched the whole bag of squares – what was I thinking? Right now I’m saving all of mine for make-up bags, pouches and wallets. I could really use a new wallet and I know it will take me a few trys to get it right. Janelle

I am also saving my fabrics and i have them divided into bags of strips, big and meduims pieces for those little projects..such as banners, decorating empty sewing bobbins, and i give some to my mum who makes barbie clothes!
