~Weekend Recap~

|

I am finally feeling better after a wicked headache a few days back and it seems like I’ve been going in several directions ever since!  I guess when you have several kids in various activities that will do it to ya, huh?

As promised here are a few things I’ve completed in the studio this weekend.  This is my finished pencil pouch for week 15 of the Zakka 2.0 Patchwork, Please! sew-along:

This was a very challenging week for me.  I have a bit of piecing under my belt now, but I had the devil of a time with the pencil tips.  This was the second pencil tip section I did, and after taking a break (and counting to 10) I continued on and finished. It’s not perfect, but it is so cute. With only 4 projects left, I’ll be sad to see this sew-along end. I guess that means Ayumi needs to write another book soon *hint hint*. I’m available to contribute!! Next week will be the “I Love My iPad Quilted Cover”.  This one looks like a lot of fun too.

Yesterday after a good cool down (It was 101 with heat index) I finished the final block of the Riley Blake Mystery Block sew-along. With a total of 9 blocks the next step is to finish it.  They recently shared a quilt showing the blocks we created.

I have used linen as a main theme throughout my blocks. Spray starch and often light interfacing has helped quite a bit. I’m not sure if I will make mine into a quilt, but it’s nice to see what their final product looks like.

photo 1The directions called for hand stitching the pieces to the backing, my I just flat out couldn’t do it.  I often have slightly shaky hands, so the amount of blood that would be shed lost out to the applique button on my Janome.  It was a lot of fun to try out this stitch on the machine, and it worked really well too!

I hope you all have a relaxing Sunday. See you tomorrow! ~Cindy~
