WIP Wednesday ~ 11 so far ~
After using too many scraps (and a few good pieces), I finally finished two more blocks in the 163 Patchwork book. The two I chose for this week were difficult for me. I think it was mostly because it had seaming I’d never attempted before. But in the end I did them…. and not to shabby either. Here’s a shot of the blocks I’ve done from the book as of this week:
I’m making my blocks 8″ finished so I have been able to use a lot of my scraps and kawaii prints. There really is no rhyme or reason for the colors or patterns of the fabrics so this will be a true random scrap quilt when I’m done!
Here’s the first block I finished. It’s called “The Eternal World”. The block was easy until I got to the border pieces. The pivot you have to do at the corner got me a few times, but I can now say I truly understand how it works now.
The second block translates to “Royal Crown”. I’ve only been quilting for maybe a year, but this is the hardest block I’ve encountered yet. The assembly picture they put on each page helps, but here it really threw me off. I think it was because when I looked at the finished block I realized there were other (and much easier!) ways I could have finished it off.
Besides my Japanese quilt book blocks, I am still working on blocks for my Scrumptious quilt. I hope to have the top done in the next few weeks as well. I’ll keep you posted.
Back to the studio I go. I am making a pattern for large clutch/wristlet/all-around awesome accessory to eventually stock in my store. Hope your Wednesday is a productive one. I’m linking up today over at Freshly Pieced, so head over and check out all the wonderful projects going on! Thanks of reading. Cindy
